South London's Venue MOT to host fundraising Dancing for Morocco & Libya party

The fundraiser, in aid of helping people affected by the recent natural disasters in North Africa, takes place this Friday, September 29

South London collectives Infa Red and Late Night Shopper, as well as local members of the North African diaspora, have announced a charity party which will raise money for those affected by the Marrakesh earthquake and flooding in Libya.

Dancing For Morocco & Libya will be held at South London's Venue MOT Unit 18 this Friday (September 29) with all proceeds going towards the Morocco Earthquake Appeal and the I See You (ISY) Foundation, which supports those affected by the floods in Libya.

The line-up includes Impey, LCY, Raji Rags, Sarra Wild, Shannen SP and Tim Reaper.

Earlier this month, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8-6.9 hit Morocco's Marrakesh–Safi region. The natural disaster was Morocco's deadliest in over 60 years, with 2,946 reported deaths and widespread damage including some of the city's historical landmarks.

Days later, on the other side of North Africa, catastrophe struck again as extreme flooding broke two dams in Libyan port city Derna. Estimated deaths exceed 5,000 whilst over 10,000 people are missing, with the extent of the tragedy so severe that the local hospitals are inoperable and the morgue is full. Libya's chief prosecutor has ordered an inquiry into the collapse of the two dams and the detention of eight former and current officials over claims that negligence and mistakes led to the devastation.

In response to these tragedies, British-Moroccan DJ and producer Bluetoof's Infa Red imprint and Late Night Shopper have pooled together friends and fellow selectors like Impey, LCY, Raji Rags, Sarra Wild, Shannen SP and Tim Reaper for a night to raise funds for all affected by the two disasters.

The full line-up can be found on the flyer below.
