Crowdfunder launched for Keith Flint mural in London

The Prodigy frontman will be memorialised to mark World Suicide Prevention Day

A crowdfunder has been launched to raise money for a mural of late Prodigy frontman Keith Flint, which will go up in London to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

The portrait has been commissioned by Headstock Festival, a mental health, wellbeing and music event with an ambition to “change the conversation around mental health, whilst raising money for mental health projects and services that will help people from all corners of society.”

Going up in London’s Hackney, close to the venue where The Prodigy played their first-ever gig, the mural is set to raise awareness for the upcoming World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10.

The late singer - who committed suicide in March 2019 - will be memorialised by artist Akse P19 just a week before Flint’s 52nd birthday.

Akse P19 is known for his mural of English footballer Marcus Rashford in Manchester, which was defaced and repainted after the Euro finals.

A crowdfunder has been launched to raise money for the mural and the artist painting it, requiring funds for the artists time, materials, travel and accommodation.

In a statement from Headstock, they also added that it would “help us cover hard costs such as scissor lift hire, Public Liability Insurance, Pavement Licence and Health & Safety management."

“The purpose of the mural is to raise awareness of mental health text message support service, Shout 85258, and the charity’s logo and text support number will feature prominently on the artwork,” they continued.

So far, the crowdfunding mission has raised almost £500 but aims to achieve around £12,500 over the course of the month. The fundraiser ends on August 31.
