Kanye West is being sued for sampling pastor on 'DONDA 2'
The sermon is heard within ‘Come To Life’ and was used "without permission"
A pastor from Texas is suing Kanye West after claiming his sermon was used without permission within ‘Come To Life’ on his latest album ‘DONDA 2’.
Court documents read that the pastor, Bishop David Paul Moten states that it is an example of Kanye and the music industry "wilfully and egregiously sampling sound recordings of others without consent or permission" according to TMZ.
The alleged sermon amounts to more than 20% of the track with lines including "my soul cries out hallelujah and I thank God for saving me".

It’s said that Bishop Moten is also suing UMG Recordings, Def Jam Recordings and G.O.O.D Music over the song.
Last week, a lawsuit has been filed against Universal Music Group (UMG) for Kanye West's 2010 song 'Power', which samples King Crimson’s track '21st Century Schizoid Man'.
According to Variety, King Crimson argues that UMG has been underpaying its streaming royalties.
The lawsuit was filed in March 2022 by Declan Colgan Music Ltd (DCM), which owns the original version of the song '21st Century Schizoid Man'.

According to the case, West first sampled the King Crimson music without any permission before releasing the track to YouTube in 2010, where it has since amassed approximately 134 million views. "Power" was also included in 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,' his fifth studio album.
