John Stones: “I love the feeling of house music”

In a new interview, the England centre-back spoke about his fondness of dance music

England footballer John Stones has opened up about his love for house music in a new interview with BBC 5 Live Sport ahead of the Euro's 2024 final.

The England centre-back, who also plays for Manchester City, shared his match day listening habits on the Football Daily Podcast along with fellow England squad members.

“I’ll give you the one I’ve been listening to on the bus, it’s called ‘Yamore’ by MoBlack,” Stones says in response to a question asking about the track he has on repeat. He adds: “It’s house music as well, I love house music. I love the feeling of it.”

In a previous interview with Manchester City TV, Stones ranked a list of artists from his favourite to least favourite, placing musicians including Calvin Harris and Oasis near the top.

The BBC 5 Live Sport interview also quizzed other members of the England squad on the tracks they’re listening to in camp. Players chose tracks from Ayra Starr, Lil Baby, and Tems.

Speaking in the interview, Kieran Trippier chats about the music you’d usually hear behind the scenes on match day. “I’m not even in charge of the music,” he says.

“But there’s one song that Jordan Pickford puts on. He’s into rave music, Pickford,” Trippier says. “Pickford’s music is horrendous.”

Pickford’s love for dance music is no secret - he’s previously put together playlists for the likes of Radio 1 Dance along with Danny Howard where he picked ‘house party’ tracks from Sammy Virji, Ewan McVicar, Honey Dijon, Bou, and more.

The England goalkeeper also put together a playlist of pre-match tracks in a recent feature with Soccer Bible, selecting tracks from DJs including Ultrabeat, Armand Van Helden, and Gigi D’Agostino.
