Ushering in the first Lab Johannesburg since 2019, Mixmag returns to one of our favourite Lab destinations through the summer of 2022. To mark the momentous occasion, we’re bringing in Italy’s MoBlack to help us welcome back the Joburg crowds.
MoBlack, real name Mimmo Falcone, has had a keen ear for Afro house since he landed in the continent in 2003. In the 20 years sinnce, Mimmo launched his MoBlack project, began tenure in A&R, and launched his own eponymous record label celebrating the best in Afro house, tribal tech, and melodic house. 10 years living in Ghana allowed MoBlack to develop an eclectic taste and pick up on the sounds around him, leading him to the brimming collection he flaunts at each show.
His most recent releases celebrate influential and lauded producers, including Blanka Mazimela with a remix of his recent track ‘Gcwanini’, and an Afro house edit of La Compagnie Créole’s ‘A.I.É.’ landing on his own imprint earlier this month. Don’t miss out on MoBlack this week - sign up for the first Lab Johannesburg here.
