Fyre Festival aims to sue patrons who compared the grounds to a “refugee camp”
Because they could "incite violence"
Following reports of a $100 million class action lawsuit against Fyre Festival organizers, news surfaced alleging that the festival has threatened a lawsuit against the complaining attendees.
The fiasco of Fyre Festival left ticket-holders stranded on an island in the Bahamas, as a storm had swept through the festival grounds a day before guests arrived. This prompted many to share their struggles on social media, with some comparing the location to a “refugee camp”.
Now the festival’s lawyers are making moves of their own, with TMZ reporting that Fyre’s attorneys have sent out at least one cease and desist letter to a person who complained about the conditions.
The letter states that those referring to the festival grounds as refugee camps could "incite violence, rioting or civil unrest", adding "If someone innocent does get hurt as a result [of your postings] Fyre Festival will hold you accountable and responsible… Inciting violence crosses the line".
Fyre Festival has yet to respond to these recent allegations.
In other news, the event's organizers have announced they plan to return next year and are offering VIP package upgrades to those who had tickets to this year's event.
