Bristol's FORWARDS shares talks programme in collaboration with Channel 4

THE INFORMATION Stage will feature panels from "social innovators" such as Brian Eno and podcaster Tolly T

Bristol's FORWARDS festival has announced the line-up for its dedicated talks stage THE INFORMATION in collaboration with Channel 4.

Set to take over Clifton Downs between August 31 and September 1, the festival has enlisted a cast of creatives, musicians and "social innovators" to give talks at THE INFORMATION — including a conversation between Brian Eno and Mikaela Loach which will cover Race In the Climate Crisis.

In partnership with Channel 4, the stage will also welcome YouTuber Mariam Musa, presenter Tolly T, creative co-ordinator at Channel 4 Stacey Olika, actor and rapper Bashy, and a host of other names over the two days.

The stage has been described as a “pivotal platform, tackling pressing cultural issues head on”, which sees talks explore gender roles, race and its intersection with the climate crisis, media and storytelling, youth exploitation, brand ethics, and methods of boycotting.

The talks stage line-up adds to an already stacked line-up of musicians, which sees the festival headlined by Loyle Carner, LCD Soundsystem, Four Tet, Jessie Ware and Underworld.

The multi-faceted line-up reflects the festival’s ethos, with a tagline on its website describing FORWARDS as “more than just a music festival," and instead an attempt to "challenge what metropolitan festivals can be today and how they can do good, from the inside out."

The two-day festival aims to harness the power of live events to bring people together for incredible music moments and lasting positive change.”
