DJ and producer Fold announces new label FLDIN2 with single 'Billa'
The track has been on Joy Orbison and Ben UFO's USBs this summer
DJ and producer Fold, real name Rob Glassett has announced he is starting a new label called FLDIN2, minting the outlet with new single 'Billa'.
The label has been set up to release a new body of solo work, coming out initially as digital singles. The digital singles will shortly be followed by double-sided vinyl EPs pairing two singles together, with a 45 RPM cut. The cut is an ode, like some of the tracks themselves, to how Fold collected drum 'n' bass and UKG records at the turn of the millenium. In conversation with Mixmag, Glassett said "the A side would be the banger, and the B side usually something interesting to complement it... or another banger!"
'Billa' is definitely one to file under the banger category, having been an almost constant in Joy Orbison sets in the summer. The tune, which pays homage to Glassett's formative years spent listening to pirate radio with an infectious acapella, a heavy bassline and slick percussion, has also featured on one of Ben UFO's Hessle Audio and Wallwork's Nervous Horizon residency shows on Rinse FM.

"Nothing beats seeing something you've made move a dancefloor. The response to the new tracks has been really insane so I'm very excited to finally share all the material," says Fold.
FLDIN2 has been set up to combat the dwindling dubplate culture, with Fold remissing that "it was so exciting to hear music out and not know what it is, and to then finally find out later.
"I'm still finding tunes that I was looking for back in the day by crawling endlessly through old sets and trawling Discogs now! The never ending chase for music nobody else is playing is a huge buzz for me."

Glassett, who also runs Well Street Records with Sam Fussell under his Robert Fleck alias, has been road testing forthcoming FLDIN2 tracks while supporting the UK leg of Overmono's worldwide tour. The famed Welsh electronic duo, who play with Fold at the Roundhouse in London tonight, were on mastering duties for 'Billa'.
Fold and Overmono are both on the bill for Mixmag's upcoming 40th birthday party at E1, see the full line-up and get tickets here.
