Florentino makes XL debut with new single ‘Constrictor’

The Latin and UK bass-infused track is a nod to the DJ and producer's dual-cultural identity

Manchester-Columbian DJ and producer Florentino is making his debut on XL Recordings with his new single ‘Constrictor’.

The sound of Latin-American dance music is paired with the deeper, more powerful low-end tones that are typical of British bass music in‘ Constrictor’, nodding to Florentino’s dual-cultural identity.

The rhythm of ‘Constrictor’ is amplified, giving the drums a powerful and substantial impact - making any listener want to move their body to the bear.

The track features Toronto-based dancehall artist Bambii and Dominican urbano vocalist artist KD ONE.

Speaking on the single, Florentino says: “This single represents me ever so slightly opening up the floodgates on a new sound, a sound that I’ve been refining over the past few years and been waiting patiently to unleash.

“It's Florentino phase 2. it's sharper, darker & more confident. Primed to rattle your speakers, Constrictor is the first page in the next chapter.”

Florentino has been rising within the Manchester and wider club scene and has made a name for himself through his debut ‘Tu Y Yo’, released through Swing Ting's label.

In 2021, Florentino founded his own record label, Club Romantico, to promote alternative and cutting-edge Latin club music from around the world. That same year, Florentino joined forces with DJ Python, Kelman Duran, and the underground group Sangre Nueva to create the well-received EP 'Goteo'.

‘Constrictor’ serves as an extension of Florentino’s efforts to break Latin club music to the masses, as this is his debut with XL Recordings, and is released under the iconic house-bag series.
