Field Day has bagged the UK exclusive of Erykah Badu
The line-up this year’s got soul as it moves to South London
Field Day is heading to South London’s Brockwell Park on June 1 and 2 this year and the line-up has been confirmed.
Moving to Brockwell Park in Lambeth after 11 years in East London, the festival features live sets from Four Tet and Mount Kimbie. Also among the 70 plus roster of artists are Fever Ray, AJ Tracey, Daniel Avery, Phonox’s resident selector Haai, and Daphni (also known as Caribou.).
This year’s edition of the eclectic festival also has a generous helping of soul, with the likes of Thundercat, Gilles Peterson, Madlib and Erykah Badu (pictured) gracing the stage.
Field Day will be the only UK gig for Erykah this year, and the only one for Fever Ray, who after eight years released her second solo album ‘Plunge’ last October.
Embracing the new surroundings, co-founder Marcus Weedon said: "We’re delighted to be hosting Field Day 2018 in South London. We look forward to working with Lambeth Council, residents, local businesses and stakeholder groups to ensure the event in Brockwell Park is a huge success and lay the foundations for what we hope is our home for many festivals to come. We’ve had 11 incredible and memorable years in Victoria Park and can’t wait to bring Field Day to Brockwell Park over two days in June."
On the line-up, fellow co-founder Tom Baker said: “I’m excited about our move south to Brixton and having the historic Brockwell Park as our new home. As lots of Londoner’s know moving on can be a wrench but is also just a part of life in this amazing city, and we know there’s so much musical history to build on in our new place.
“Since Field Day started in 2007, some might say that London has become festival crazy, there is just so much amazing live music to see, but for us, now more than ever, it’s really key to cut above those that ape you. I feel the Field Day 2018 line-up is one of the best yet. It’s fresh and exciting, cutting edge but has some absolute legends and returning Field Day veterans. It’s 'Field Day through and through.”
