Duolingo reportedly developing "music learning" app
Rumours surfaced following a job posting that suggests that the app is “venturing into music”
Language-learning app Duolingo has been rumoured to be working on a music learning element.
The app, which teaches users to learn languages such as Spanish, Welsh and Japanese, has recently released a job advertisement which suggests that the app is “venturing into music”.
The job role spotted is for a Learning Scientist For Music with the listing reading: “Duolingo is venturing into teaching music! Our strengths lie in building educational apps that are grounded in learning science and keep learners motivated – come join us to help build a new Duolingo music app that promotes learning and is fun to use!”

The listing continues that Duolingo is looking for “an expert in music education who combines both theoretical knowledge of relevant learning science research and hands-on teaching experience”, and someone who “will lay the foundation for the new music product, innovating through experimentation and fast product iterations”.
According to Tech Crunch, the company also posted a job for freelance music composition and curricular consultant, however, these roles are no longer accepting applications.
Last year, the platform launched Duolingo Math, marking its first expansion from languages.

For social media app, TikTok, it has been reported to be limiting music on the platform to test its "importance" to users.
According to Bloomberg, the experiment is targeting users in Australia as content creators won’t be able to use certain songs.
No further information has been released on Duolingo.
