Doctor Jeep announces forthcoming EP, 'Push The Body'
Alongside three original tracks are three equally energy-fuelled remixes from Hodge, Aquarian and Sam Binga
Doctor Jeep has announced his forthcoming EP, 'Push The Body'.
Set to be released on March 31 via TraTraTrax, the record houses three original Latin-inspired tracks influenced by the artist's Brazilian heritage.
The EP closes with three remixes from Hodge, Aquarian and Sam Binga. Each remixing one of the three original tracks - Hodge on 'Reso Danz', Aquarian on 'Push The Body' and Sam Binga on 'Rolla Dex' - each producer cuts the original into their own moulds of techno dembow, psychedelic-like hardcore soundscapes and 160bpm hitters respectively.

"I wanted to try something a little different with this EP, especially with the title track, where I put a classic baile funk vocal sample through a vocoder to create something totally alien to the original sample," says Jeep on opener 'Push The Body'. "The lyric in Portuguese is actually 'Puxa o bonde' - 'Pull the tram' - but when looped it sounds like "Push The Body", which felt appropriate since raving does push the body to its limits.
"The switchup to a more propulsive beat later on was a technique I haven't often done in tracks but felt like a nice, surprising change - something I'm always trying to do with my sets."
Meanwhile, rolling groove-infused 'Rolla Dex' is a seven-year old classic in the producer and DJ's sets, with final original 'Reso Dans' lowering the tempo to 90bpm - something he says he was "obsessed with at the time" - yet stamping classic Doctor Jeep identity onto it with its dembow sound and resonant lead synthlines.
