Ben Prophet releases thumping in-demand track 'The Transition'

It has already garnered support from Kettama, with Mall Grab, VTSS and HAAi also fans of his work

Ben Prophet has shared his final track of 2022, 'The Transition'.

A self release from the Ireland-born, Newcastle-based producer, DJ and promoter, the record takes information from his love for hip-hop blended with his trademark use of industrial, cutting-edge sound design and has been a staple in his high-energy sets for some time now.

It follows the hotly-received 'Hyper Funk EP' released in February 2022 which showcased the producer's evolved sound, shifting from brassier bassline sounds he initially focused on to darker, more mystical sounds of electronica.

Since, he has gained constant support from previous Mixmag cover star HAAi, who uses Prophet's records as staples in her sets internationally, as have Mall Grab, Skream and VTSS. And even before 'The Transition' releases, it has been used by Kettama in his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

“I wanted to make something extremely heavy and also really catchy," Prophet tells Mixmag. "You know how you listen to pop songs and the vocals just stick in your head? That's what I wanted for 'The Transition'. I want people to be going around the place singing the song. That's my main goal there, I want to be frozen into people's brains where people just can't stop singing it."

"When I’m producing, I've got such specific mechanical sound now, especially on vocals, that it is getting to a point where it's so recognisable as me. People can walk into the club and go: “Yeah, it sounds like new Ben Prophet,” - and that's been the goal since day one. I definitely think that making these unique mechanical sounds is drawing audience – it's so sick."

“The reason I wanted to release 'The Transition' now is because this has been my biggest year in terms of music and being able to give back to all the support that I've received. I want to say thank you for everything and I'm able to give everyone a track they have wanted since over a year now. I’ve had so many messages to release it, so it makes me so happy to be able to release such a sought after record!”
