Bang Face has announced a new date and location for this year’s Weekender

The festival was forced to find a new site, following the closure of its long-time home Southport Pontins

Bang Face Weekender has announced a new date and location for this year's festival, following the closure of Pontins Southport in January.

The festival has shared that it will be moving to Butlin's Skegness Resort this Autumn, from October 4 to October 7 — a change of date from its planned dates next month, which was set to take place across May 2 - 6.

Pontins Southport closed with immediate effect after being evacuated on New Year's Day due to flooding, the Liverpool Echo reported.

The flooding was reportedly caused after the old boating lake burst its banks due to heavy rainfall and saw families evacuated from the site by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.

After this, the resort was closed temporarily, yet its closure was made permanent just 24 hours later.

In a statement from Bang Face on the new Skegness location, the festival shared: “The new site is incredible and a massive upgrade with amazing venues and facilities allowing us to put on everything you've come to expect and more. It's the perfect place for a music weekender with all the venues being indoors.”

According to the statement, The Skyline Pavilion will be the centre of the festival with the iconic pool party still planned to go ahead at Splash Waterworld.

The new Butlins location also has direct access to the beach, as well as multiple indoor music venues.

On-site accommodation is also still available, with access to a small supermarket, onsite pubs and bars as well as restaurants.

Bang Face has announced its first wave line-up, which this year includes Hudson Mohawke, Helena Hauff, SHERELLE, Hamdi, and more.

More names are set to be revealed as well as the fancy dress theme still to come.
