All inclusive hotels in Ibiza might start charging for alcohol soon
The Balearic government is trying to curb anti-social behaviour through new measures
In an attempt to reduce alcohol-related crimes in the Balearics, tourism officers have been in talks to make all inclusive hotel guests pay for their alcoholic drinks.
The government wants to force hotels to charge separately for their alcohol, and instead offer ‘added value’ in other ways, although it is not yet clear what is meant by this.
The proposal is said to be going to public consultation this summer, with the government intending to talk to all individual councils before coming to a decision.
Flights to Ibiza are also being targeted, with the government aiming to limit passengers' booze intake.
Hotels in Ibiza have also been forced to slash prices due to a decrease in tourism.
