Lady Gaga announces seventh studio album 'MAYHEM'

Set to be produced with help from Gesaffelstein, Gaga had previously alluded being inspired by "industrial electronic" while working on the upcoming record

Lady Gaga has shared details of her highly-anticipated seventh album, 'MAYHEM'.

Set to land via Interscope Records on March 7, Gaga has been teasing the new project extensively since late last year — debuting single 'Disease' in October, which followed August's Bruno Mars-featuring smash hit 'Die With A Smile'.

The yet-to-be-revealed third single from 'MAYHEM', which had previously been labelled 'LG7' during its development, is set to premiere during this weekend's GRAMMY Awards ceremony alongside it's accompanying music video.

“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved," Gaga said in a statement, describing the process of creating 'MAYHEM' as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”

'MAYHEM' is set to have 14-tracks, though titles for all except the singles are being kept under wraps, being blurred from the artwork seen on the pre-order page on the US popstar's website.

The 13-time GRAMMY winner did however tease the tracks via a distorted graphic shared on her Instagram story yesterday (January 27).

'MAYHEM' has been executive produced by Gaga herself, working with producers Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Gesaffelstein.

In December, Gaga had alluded to Gesaffelstein and a host of "other DJs" involvement in the project. “I loved learning about industrial music and about all the different crevices of electronic music,” she told Los Angeles Times. “One of the things I’ve probably been judged for in my career was not sticking to one thing. But not sticking to one thing is my life force.”
