Blawan announces third EP ‘BouQ’ on XL Recordings

Announcing the forthcoming project on Instagram, he calls it his “most adventurous yet” and shares the first single

Blawan has announced his return to XL Recordings with a four-track EP, set for release December 6.

Announcing the news via Instagram Blawan says: “Life flows raw and positive and so does the music at the minute, I couldn’t be happier. 'BouQ' and everything else I’m writing atm feels like some of my most adventurous yet..”

He also shared the record’s first single, ‘Fires’, a pop-leaning production with syncopated beats and the artist’s own distorted vocals.

‘BouQ’ will mark Blawan’s third EP for XL Recordings, following up from 2023’s ‘Dismantled Into Juice’.

His first release with the label came in 2021, and saw the artist move away from club-focussed sounds to show off his deep technical ability.

According to a press release, ‘BouQ’ further demonstrates the artist’s “disorientating, menacing electronic experimentation”.

He has been teasing tracks from the forthcoming EP during his recent sets, such as at Draaimolen and Overmono’s Pure Devotion show in Bristol.

Meanwhile, ‘Fires’ has already been receiving support from the likes of Skrillex and Four Tet, with the latter dropping it during his set at Lollapalooza Festival.

Blawan also recently released a track for a new compilation album, ‘It’s Elastic’, under his Karenn alias, a collaborative project with fellow electronic producer Pariah.
