The group have shared their first EP alongside the announcement

William Kiss, Luke Alessi and and Jordan Brando have teamed up to form trio not without friends, this week (June 27) sharing their debut EP via RÜFÜS DU SOL's Rose Avenue imprint.

An idea borne during a trip to Thailand's Phi Phi island, with the poolside conversation ending in the Melbourne trio writing tracks on a laptop and UE Megaboom imminently after, the six-tracker was finalised during a sting in Barcelona.

The record's final output - which traverses percussive, soulful energy and utilises vocals exactly where feels necessary - is reflective of these travels, as Brando enthuses:

"A lot of our trips abroad together have definitely come through in the music. Upbeat, happy and not too serious, which for us is exactly what NWF is about. Whether it’s the sound of a crowded street in Barcelona, the calm wind in Thailand, or a washing machine in Ibiza (yep), we’ve tried to sample and incorporate pieces of our travels into all our records."

"The energy always bounces around the room between us," adds Kiss. "We're not interested in trends, gimmicks or limitations. not without friends is the truest form of our combined creativity and us being ourselves."

And, those into the first record should embrace discomfort, as the trio plan to explore any and every avenue that appeals to them, according to Alessi: "What you hear now isn’t necessarily what you are going to hear there after. The project is free, unrestricted and ever evolving. Keep an open mind when listening."
