Leeds' Catch Recordings shares upcoming EP

The forward-thinking VA features acid, techno, breakbeat and minimal sounds

Leeds' Catch Recordings has announced its forthcoming EP, 'Northern Lines'.

Set for release on June 16, the four-track VA includes contributions from labelhead Nadsat (pictured) plus Hardacre, Annie Errez and Leoleoleo, interlacing soundscapes from acid and techno to breakbeat and minimal.

Catch prides itself on not pigeonholing to specific genres, springboarding from the premise that "if it works, it works". Not only restricted to sound, either, its founders are keen to put thought into its output's accompanying artwork, with 'Northern Lines' being no exception.

Hardacre opens the record with an intersection of UK-centric sounds on 'Higher Level of Communication', based upon acid lines and old-school broken beats, before Nadsat introduces 'Crash 101' with a stripped-back techno affair. Following, the city's own Annie Errez channels sounds only found at the afterparty with dubbed-out chugger 'According To Daneeka' before Manchester's' Leoleoleo closes the EP with broken, funky drum patterns in the euphoric 'Other Words For Jupiter'

"We wanted to make this release stand out as we’re heading towards our 10 year anniversary this year," explains labelhead Nadsat. "It’s a family affair with some of the amazing producers that also happen to be great friends.

"The support has been incredible on it so far, so we couldn’t be happier. A big thank you to everyone involved and for the fans and artists supporting.”

Catch was founded in 2013, with a heavy emphasis on promoting and platforming underground artists. It is often a family affair, with regular supporters - and now friends - of the imprint often contributing in some creative capacity.
