Soho's Music & Video Exchange adds to the growing list of London record store casualties

More sad news for vinyl lovers with Soho record store Music & Video Exchange announcing its immediate closure yesterday.

The store, which has been an institution on Berwick St for two decades, cited "imminent construction work on Berwick Street" as the primary reason behind their decision to close shop.

However, it may not be all doom and gloom with the owners hopeful of finding a new shop and reopening within the near future.

The closure adds to what has already been a bad year for record stores in Central London, with the iconic BM Soho closing their doors only a few months ago.

While the owners begin their search for a new shop in the area, stock from the Soho store will be transferred to their Notting Hill, Greenwich and Birmingham outlets.
