Boyle confirms Trainspotting 2 is happening

Danny Boyle has confirmed a sequel to 90s classic Trainspotting will begin filming as soon as the four main cast members – Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle – can co-ordinate their schedules.

"All the four main actors want to come back and do it," revealed Boyle, "now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series."

Trainspotting screenwriter John Hodge has finished the script, which Boyle has described as "terrific".

The sequel will pick up the story 10 years on from the original film, and will be loosely based on Irvine Welsh's sequel to the Trainspotting novel, Porno.
