Tesco will be the first UK supermarket to join the vinyl revolution
Iron Maiden's 'The Book of Souls' will trial run across 55 stores on September 4
Tesco is to become the first UK supermarket to sell vinyl records in store, starting with the release of the new Iron Maiden album.
'The Book of Souls' will be sold across 55 of their largest stores as a trial run, which if successful could be followed up by the stocking of a wider collection of records.
Vinyl sales hit £1.3 million last year, the highest they have been since 1995, thanks in part to the growing availability of records. So there's a chance it won't be long before your fave dance vinyl is stocked on the supermarket shelves.
Urban Outfitters, with its record exclusives, and Amazon have already been noted as adding to this growth and Tesco's announcement looks set to give another boost to the vinyl market.
Next time we head to the supermarket we'll be picking up a bunch of bananas and a stack a wax then.
