Funkineven announces album as Steven Julien

Steven Julien, aka Funkineven, has shared two tracks from his upcoming album, 'Fallen', which will be released by his label Apron Records on June 17.

The record is said to tell the tale of a fallen angel, with the first half reflecting a euphoric mindset alongside thoughts of utopia. The press release adds that the second half of the album delves down into a more dark and sadistic sound.

It's the first music Julien has released under his own name and not his Funkineven alias.

He recently announced that he would only be making albums in the future. In an interview with The Wire, Julien said: "I’m from an era where an album meant the same thing. Whether it was dance, hiphop or whatever: it told a story."

Both 'XL' and 'Chantel' are off the first half of the album and can be heard below.
