Space Dimension Controller digs out ‘Orange Melamine’ for Ninja Tune
The full-length is out on May 27
Space Dimension Controller, aka Jack Hamill, is set to release the first album he ever produced through Ninja Tune on May 27.
Hamill made ‘Orange Melamine’ in his bedroom at the age of 18, taking influence from old VHS tapes and artists such as Brian Eno, William Basinki and Boards of Canada, whose name was inspired by their own use of VHS.
As is the case with all of Hamill’s SDC output, there’s a strong sci-fi influence across the LP, with audio and visual references from 80s and 90s films such as The Guyver, Short Circuit, The Gobots, Ghostbusters, The Fifth Element, Escape from New York and Power Rangers.
