‘Snookerstar DJ' Steve Davis profiled in new BBC mini-doc
See DJ Thundermuscle in action
We were pretty shocked when snooker ledge Steve Davis was unveiled on the line-up for the 2016 Bloc Weekender, and then revealed himself to be an industrial techno head with a desire to party in Berghain.
A new mini-documentary from the BBC has profiled the former world champion, who had a reputation for being a bit of a bore in his playing career, and given a greater insight into his character and passion for experimental dance music.
The cameras follow Steve broadcasting his radio show on Phoenix FM and onsite at Bloc, showing clips of him enjoying sets in the crowd and spinning records during his own performance in the onsite pub.
Interview segments with Steve, his DJing partner Kavus Torabi, fellow snooker champ Ronnie O’Sullivan, his agent Barry Hearn and a mob of Steve’s adoring fans at Bloc feature. He also sits down for a chat with Holly Herndon.
Check out ‘Steve Davis: Snookerstar DJ’ now on the BBC’s website.
To see Steve spin some records, head to Café OTO on May 6.
