On Friday March 18, Mixmag threw one one of the most talked about parties of Miami Music Week on the stunning rooftop pool of the 1 Hotel South Beach, featuring one old school and one new school legend – Erick Morillo and Black Coffee.

Word about the surprise free party, announced only one day beforehand, spread quickly across Miami, causing the venue to hit capacity once, twice and over again as fans attempted to make their way deckside for an intimate session with Erick Morillo by day and Black Coffee by night.

With the blue waters of Miami Beach serving as the backdrop to what must be one of the most beautiful rooftop pools in the world, the afternoon kicked off with a handful of up-and-coming openers including Saeed Younan, Patrick M, Aiden Jude and BK Rogers.

Morillo descended upon the sun-drenched rooftop just ahead of sundown to cheers and back slaps from the assembled crowd. It was a prime time and prime view fit for the masterful soundtrack of the New York native, who proved once again why he has been at the top of the game for over 25 years. After ushering in the sunset, Morillo ended the first half of the party with a cheeky b2b session with Serge Devant (who needed to scoot early to playing the El Row party) before making way for the night crew to step in.

The evening portion of the party began with sets from exciting newcomer Baez, Lauren Lane and Cassy – who set the mood perfectly with her unique breed of sexy techno and subtle, soul-tinged house.

As darkness enveloped the rooftop, the balmy sea breeze cooling the expectant crowd, Black Coffee took the decks at midnight. Rhythmic, soulful, uplifting, unclassifiable – Black Coffee delivered one of his trademark sets that prove why he is one of the most in demand DJs on the planet right now. A perfect end to a perfect pool party.
