Premiere: Leibniz hits it out the park with ‘Bat’

After winning the endorsement of Fairplay Records with his first release, a label that solely puts out debut records from undiscovered talents, Leipzig-based producer Leibniz has asserted the imprint’s tastemaking credentials ever since, crafting an increasingly impressive discography.

While the artist shares his name with choco-covered biscuits, his recent productions have been anything but sweet, with outings through Ortloff and Shtum showcasing a gritty take on club music, making impactful use of break beats and earth-shaking bass.

His next record is set to arrive through another Uncanny Valley sublabel, Rat Life, which also housed his 2015 collaborative effort with Credit 00 ‘Basement Toolz Vol. II’.

Going it alone this time, Leibniz has turned in another set of hard-hitting tracks which will kick any dancefloor into overdrive when powering out a system, with the three-track EP featuring the disorientating synth pattern of ‘Uzi’ and freely distributed ‘Think (About It)’ sample of ‘2 Simple’.

Opener ‘Bat’ is our pick of the bunch. It’s a monstrous club-wrecker, underpinned by a foundation of growling bass and sharp percussive hits that impels reflexive muscle movement. Check it out below.

Leibniz's 'Rat Life 10' EP is out on December 9, pre-order it via Bandcamp
