Premiere: Daniel Ruane elevates smog's pneumatic club textures
Existential banger
Since launching in 2015, the Berlin-based oqko collective has unleashed a series of mind-bending releases that interrogate genre boundaries with intense, textural meshes.
The imprint’s next outing, a four-track EP titled ‘DualExercise_I’, co-founder smog and Daniel Ruane contribute two new tracks, then take turns remixing each other’s effort, described in the press release as “based on the premise of collaboration and reinterpretation.”
Our pick from the record is Daniel Ruane’s remix, which sees the Mancunian artist bring a feeling of lofty transcendence to smog’s abrasive, pneumatic club cut. Listen below.
‘DualExercise_I’ is out via oqko on November 28, pre-order it via Bandcamp
