Marcel Dettmann is helming a new collaborative album on Ostgut Ton sub-label A-Ton
The album will be a sonic interpretation of photos by Friedrike von Rauch
Marcel Dettmann has announced he will release a collaborative album titled ‘Marcel Dettmann presents RAUCH' via A-Ton, the Ostgut Ton sub-label set up to showcase ambient, archive and alternative music from outside of the club sphere.
The record is a sonic interpretation of photos by contemporary artist Friedrike von Rauch, and been composed by Dettmann and other Berlin-based producers Felix K, Sa Pa and Simon Hoffmann.
Dettmann arranged and mixed the work, channelling inspiration from von Rauch’s architectural images of post-World War II European monasteries such as the Maria Regina Martyrum in Berlin, Roosenberg Abbey near Ghent, and the Le Corbusier-designed La Tourette.
These original images will be exhibited alongside the music as part of the installation show ‘insgeheim’ at the Goethe-Institut Paris from November 9 to January 11.
Dettmann and von Rauch previously collaborated on the installation project Ash back in 2011.
‘Marcel Dettmann presents RAUCH' will be released on vinyl and in digital format on December 1. Listen to excerpts below.
