Jay Jay Revlon and the vogue platform English Breakfast London he co-founded has linked up with DIY group HUB16 to launch a new night at The Alibi in Dalston called Open Call.

The series of events will be free of charge, and provide DJ / MC workshops for dancers alongside functioning as a club night, with the main space in the venue designated for dancers.

Manchester-hailing artist CVNT TRAXXX, who is signed to US ballroom icon Vjuan Allure’s label Elite Beatz, will play at the opening night on March 11, alongside Jay Jay Revlon and Samantha.

Speaking about Open Call, Jay Jay Revlon, who has been instrumental in the rise of London’s vogue scene, said: “A club night for dancers is very much missing and now the ballroom scene, especially, is growing we need a social space to meet up, bring new people in and nurture talent when we spot it on the dance floor. This is the first event and we have other DJs lined up from the dance battle community which will fitting to bring those vibes back to Dalston clubs."

Samantha Nelson from HUB16 added “not much beats a sweaty basement full of dancers really going for it with a wicked DJ on a club sound system. We’re really excited to work with The Alibi and create a party for dancers to practice and show off.”

Open Call is calling for “all vogues, whackers, krumpers, club kids, house movers, poppers and lockers + the crowds that love them to come through!”. Head to the Facebook event for further details.
