Guide: Jamie Trench
Jamie Trench is the Milton Keynes producer with house jams for days
Here's our guide to Jamie Trench, the UK house producer with tunes for days. Download his exclusive production mix below
It's hard to believe that Jamie Trench hasn't bubbled to the fore of house music yet. With a long list of on-point productions, a true love of the party and his own active record label, the Milton Keynes producer seems primed for a lively career in four-to-the-floor.
He comes bearing that delicious sense of someone on the verge of popping off. Listening to his 2012 debut album 'Range Of Motion' feels like prising open a goldmine of spankin' house jams. Tunes like 'Lingerie & Champagne' and 'Untitled Dreams Of Rooftops' nod toward the sunkissed emotion and uplifting melody of Kerri Chandler as well as the rolling, unpolished percussion and raw soul of Mr G. The 11 tracks inside are undiscovered gems; go fetch 'em and find yourself bearing a wealth of quality cuts.
The 26 year old has been producing since his early twenties and after dropping 'Range Of Motion' has put out a steady stream of 12"s, each bearing a signature style of house that he's committed to carving out. His 2013 EP for Tsuba, 'Street Lamps', is spring-loaded with taught, bass-propelled grooves and samples that seem to be lifted from dusty Californian funk and soul records. "I'm inspired by anything that brings a positive energy or outlook to a situation," he says about his music. "It can be a feeling while out at a club or just eating with friends – anything like that. Anything that puts you in a better mood."
That goes for his DJing style, too: "People that influence me are the those that I've seen play or met and are down to earth and humble and are clearly loving what they are doing. Dyed Soundorom, Brawther and Move D spring to mind, people without an ego and who are all about a good vibe."
Jamie cut his teeth doing seasons in Ibiza, getting immersed in the island's clubs and afterparties. Perhaps that's what's behind his sunny approach to production; you can imagine hearing his tunes on a terrace at sunset or by the villa pool at dawn. And the hustle of the White Isle obviously contributed to his work ethic, as his Roots For Bloom label has been going since 2012 and he's actively involved in putting on regular parties in his hometown. With a slew of releases forthcoming and gigs booked at Global Gathering and Tramlines, get to know Jamie Trench before he truly does pop off.
