Glastonbury plans Prince and David Bowie tributes
Late-night Prince parties have been discussed and multiple Bowie tributes are confirmed
In March, Emily Eavis revealed Glastonbury Festival was planning a tribute to commemorate David Bowie. Following the death of Prince last month, she’s now revealed tribute will be paid to the American music great as well.
The Pyramid Stage will be adorned with a giant lightning bolt in reference to Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’ album, and screens around the site will broadcast footage of his triumphant headline appearance in 2000.
A more “intimate” tribute to Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ LP is being planned to take place on the Park stage, Emily Eavis told the BBC. She said: “We’re going to do an incredible light show which will go on for the whole show and beyond, into the night.”
The festival organiser also noted “there’s talk of late-night Prince parties and things.”
Prince never played the festival, despite Eavis revealing “it’s been so close to happening for the last three years. A couple of times it’s been confirmed and then not happened.
“It’s really disappointing that he hasn’t played here but it’s also, obviously, a huge loss to music because he was an incredible force.”
Glastonbury takes place from June 22 to 26 and you can check out our pick of the DJs playing the Silver Hayes area here.
