Get a glimpse of the new David Bowie stamp collection
The first solo musical act to be honored in such a way
A limited edition collection of David Bowie tribute stamps have been revealed by the UK Royal Mail.
The new collection consists of 10 stamps, four of which are photos from Bowie’s live shows and the other six are mirrored after his iconic album covers, including ‘Aladdin Sane’, ‘Hunky Dory’, ‘Earthling’ and his final album ‘Blackstar’ among others.
As NME points out, Bowie is the only solo musician to be honored with an official stamp collection and just the third musical act ever, following The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
Philip Parker of the Royal Mail addressed the importance of honoring such a legendary artist: “For five decades David Bowie was at the forefront of contemporary culture, and has influenced successive generations of musicians, artists, designers and writers. Royal Mail’s stamp issue celebrates this unique figure and some of his many celebrated personas.”
The special David Bowie stamp collection will be released March 14. Pre-order here.
