Chicago's Metro and Smart Bar clubs are throwing a party with all proceeds being donated in support of the Frankie Knuckles Foundation on January 17.

The foundation set up, with help from Smart Bar owner Joe Shanahan, in the Chicago house legend's honour is "dedicated to the advancement of Frankie Knuckles' mission as the global ambassador of house music."

Frankie Knuckles was formerly a resident at Smart Bar, and one of the first DJs to ever play there back in 1982 near the beginning of his illustrious and seminal career.

David Morales, Terry Hunter and Louie Vega are all playing the event, alongside residents Derrick Carter, Michael Serafini and Garrett David. Live perfromances will come from Rochele Fleming and Adeva.
