Dread D
The Black Ops man rises again
Dread D's back with a bang.
Years before becoming a respected UK house artist, Tesfa Williams was making hard-as-nails grime instrumentals and rolling as part of Jon E Cash's Black Ops crew.
He released his first 12" aged 18 and went on to deploy a series of records – including 2002 scene anthem 'Invasion' – before retiring the Dread D alias in the mid 00s in order to concentrate on making tracks under an alias dedicated to house: T. Williams.
But now Dread D's back on the buttons and ready to unleash an EP on Local Action (the label that homed T. Williams banger 'Heartbeat' with Terri Walker). The imprint's something of a spiritual home and the 'Siege' EP boasts three new cuts and a re-up of a D classic, 'Time Command', which you can hear exclusively below.
The 12" drops later this month and buyers get the music as well as a vintage pirate radio recording and tickets to the London launch of 'Siege'. Fair one!
