Burial drops surprise record ‘Young Death’
It appeared on discogs on Friday after copies were sold “accidentally” in a record shop
UK producer Burial has surprised us with a new release called ‘Young Death’ on Hyperdub.
‘Young Death’ appeared online on discogs after it was made available for sale on Black Friday at Sonic Boom Records in Toronto.
According to Pitchfork, five copies of the record were sold “accidentally” due to a misunderstanding. Record buyer Blair Whatmore, said: “The box the records came in said: ‘artist/title’. We assumed it was a Black Friday secret listing. It wasn’t really clear to us that we weren’t supposed to be selling it”.
Apparently, Whatmore got a call from a representative of Hyperdub, who “Was not happy” that the record had been sold.
Back in February, Burial had his albums 'Burial' and 'Untrue' repressed on vinyl. The 'Young Death' 12" features tracks ‘Young Death’ and ‘Nightmarket’ and is the producer's first release this year, but an official release date is still to be confirmed.
