Ah Snowbombing, what a wild week you are. For anyone not acquainted with the annual festival, it takes place in the picturesque mountains of Mayrhofen, Austria and plays hosts to thousands of ravers, all looking for a week of snow sports and excessive partying. Artists like Skrillex, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox, Modeselektor and Anja Schneider all head up to the retreat to bring the heat to an otherwise frosty climate.

Of course you can expect to see Mr Motivator and Eddy The Eagle bouncing around all week, alongside Artwork and the UK selectors who don't want to leave once they get there. Our man of the match however was James Zabiela as he effortlessly dropped three of the best sets of the week, all with a beaming smile across his face. He was often spotted on the slopes wearing a 'Skiing is a bit shit' T-shirt and bringing the vibes from day one. Big ups James.

There was the wild Mixmag party in the Brückenstadl on the Monday where Jackmaster played for four hours with Heidi and that set the tone for the week. After that, well the tunes just kept rolling. Here's our pick of the best sets and tunes that defined Snowbombing 2015. Caution: Fire inside.

Heidi b2b Jackmaster

The Mixmag party was the first of the week and took place on the Monday night. After Marc Roberts, Funster, Maribou State and Pedestrian had laid down the foundations, it was time for Heidi and Jackmaster to step up and rock the Brückenstadl. Four hours of madness ensued and although 'Pride' by Adesse Versions was one of the tunes of the night, it was Heidi stepping up to drop Carl Craig's stunning remix of 'Detroit' that typified the evening. Mad love to all involved.

Dubfire

Once the Mixmag crew had recovered after our insane bash the night before, it was time to venture up the mountain to the Arctic Disco. As soon as the bumpy and slightly un-nerving cable car was out of the way, we were treated to an afternoon of frosty grooves inside a giant igloo. James Zabiela laid down a serious set but before that it was Dubfire and we were thrilled when he played Luca Ballerini's 'Amore & Psiche'. We premiered the side-winding Innervisions cut last month and danced 'til ice melted when it dropped.

Tensnake

Mixmag favourite and former cover star Tensnake was in charge of hyping up the Racket Club on Wednesday night before MK graced the decks. The biggest venue on site was rammed from front to back for the German's set and one of the last tunes he played was Justin Van Der Volgen's remix of 'Inspector Norse'. It's the edit that keeps you on your toes until the breakout euphoria moment. Epic.

James Zabiela

Our man of the match and for good reason, James Zabiela, went in at Snowbombing this year. Arguably his best set was at the Brückenstadl on Wednesday night where he played the bangers before Modeselektor. This chubby roller by Detroit Swindle had people both cheering and reaching for Shazam, at the same time.

Modeselektor

After Zabiela, the incredible Germans, Modselektor jumped on deck and brought forth two hours of steely, industrial techno. The pace was delivered and for the most part it didn't stray from up-tempo and unrelenting bangers. The light through this darkness however was 'Diversion' by KiNK and once those glitzy, shimmering synths reared their heads, the energy was raised ten fold.

2manydjs

It's the Thursday night now and we're past the halfway mark. Legs are tired but spirits aren't broken and we head to the Forest to see headliners 2manydjs do their thing. We knew what to expect as well, two hours of classic electro heat, new cuts seamlessly mixed with old and boy did they smash it. 'Burn' by Jimmy Edgar was a particular highlight as a friend with an afro outright lost his shit right in front of us. We salute you Hutch.

Tom Demac

The Friday night meant all cards were laid out. £6m all in. One evening left to show the dancefloor what you're made of so we started of at Europahaus for Tom Demac's set and he showcased a serious amount of talent. His mixing was exceptional and when he played 'Ruffa' by Randomer, we all turned to each other with a screwface before going completely ham. Maybe the gnarilest tune of the weekend, nice one Tom.

Anja Schneider

And so we made it to the last set of the week.It was back to the Funktion One-loaded Brückenstadl to see Anja Schneider end her Mobilee showcase with style, grace and a whole lot of heavy-artillery. Her set oozed groove from the off and the crowd were in high spirits despite the fact the festival was drawing to a close. As Anja played 'Wek' by Fango, a grin crept across her face the second the mischievous tones came in and filled the room. A perfect track to end a pretty perfect festival in the snow. Till next year.

Big love to the Snowbombing crew and special shouts to fellow Mixmaggers, Jules & Vassilis <3
