Emily Eavis has reportedly shared an update on this year's Glastonbury headliners, and when they will be announced.

The update comes amid the "longest wait" for ticketholders to find out who will be headlining the festival in 17 years — following a delay in ticket sales by two weeks in November.

However, Eavis hinted that the wait may be over soon while speaking at Oxford University’s Women in Music conference last week (March 7).

As highlighted by fans on forum efestivals, Eavis teased that the festival plans to run with “two female headliners” this year — adding that the line-up should be out at some point this week. No names were given.

Eavis also confirmed that the festival will take place in both 2025 and 2026, forgoing a "fallow year" following the festival's two-year hiatus across the pandemic.

She added that one of these year's will "hopefully" have three female headliners, according to OOFestivals.

Last year, the festival was criticised following a report found that the line-up lacked gender diversity, with male artists almost doubling that of female acts.

According to the report, across the festival’s 12 most popular stages there were 182 male acts or bands with a higher number of male artists, in comparison to just 100 female or female-dominating bands.

In November, Glastonbury tickets sold out however, at the time the festival shared: “There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2024.”

Last week, Glastonbury announced that it will be giving away tickets to this year's festival as part of crowdfunder campaign raising emergency funds for people affected by conflict.

The festival confirmed that 20 tickets are up for grabs — with all proceeds to be donated to UK charities working in conflict zones, including the British Red Cross, Oxfam and War Child.

Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm will be running between June 26 and June 30 this year.
