Venue and community space opens in Melbourne, High Note

A new venue and community space has opened its doors in the Northcote area of Melbourne, High Note.

High Note sits across two adjoining spaces at the front of the Northcote Theatre, a popular music venue in Melbourne, each offering different experiences. “To your left, a sleek bar where quality meets simplicity,” High Note explains. “To your right, a buzzing hub, info-den and home for the community.”

The new venue boasts a hi-fi soundsystem and a special edition, custom-built rotary mixer by Condesa Electronics. “High Note's sonic kit-out is a special piece of hi-fi folklore,” says High Note.

“Witness the Altec horns that once graced the Sydney Opera House, restored to their former glory by local audio nerd UMUT and now homed within our venue.”

High Note will also host a range of gigs, exhibitions, record fairs, and club nights, with a schedule lined up including the likes of Theo Parrish on October 31 alongside a listening party and live Q&A.

“Join us in the info-den (High Note’s second space) on Tues Oct 31st for Theo Parrish In Conversation + ‘Free Myself’ LP listening party,” High Note announced.

“Post his sold-out stint this Sunday at Northcote Theatre, Lori will rack the musical brain of the Sound Signature founder as they chat processes. Processes in DJing, production, collabs… wherever the convo flows.”

Others joining the line-up include Tom Ravenscroft on Thursday, October 26, Business Partner on October 27, and a live set from Dennis Bovell on October 29.

High Note is open from Thursdays to Sundays each week, from 4:PM until late. Find out more about the new community space here.
