Everyone knows that NYC/Beats In Space presenter/selector Tim Sweeney has excellent ears: one listen to his first-ever release, the Gallic electro-pop masterpiece La Ballade de Jim by Paradis is testament to that (it’s actually a cover version, but wow what a cover).

From there, the comp takes in tracks from Mixmag favourite Jaakko Eino Kalevi with the DFA-esque disco-punk jam ‘Speak Out’ (and he returns later on the comp with ‘Sensaatio’), before taking in exclusive tracks from Tornado Wallace, Lauer and Paradis, who returns with the oh-so French afterhours balladry of ‘Je m’ennuie’.

But as Philip Lauer’s sunburnt disco-tech instrumental ‘Stigma’ will attest, if there’s one thing you can guarantee with Beats In Space, it’s that you’re never bored.
