Two men have been found guilty of murdering 23-year-old Cody Fisher, who was fatally stabbed on the dancefloor of Birmingham nightclub CRANE in December 2022.

Remy Gordon, 23, and Kami Carpenter, 22, were found guilty of the murder of Cody Fisher at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday, March 26, the BBC reports. A third suspect, aged 19, was found not guilty.

Both men were arrested just days after Fisher was fatally stabbed on Boxing Day (December 26, 2022). Gordon was arrested in Birmingham, and Carpenter in London.

Fisher, who was a non-league footballer and school sports coach, was attacked with a zombie knife by a group of masked men on the dancefloor at CRANE.

2,000 people were in attendance on the night. Fisher attended the club with his girlfriend, Jess Chatwin, and his best friend, Dan Vann, who were there to see Italian techno DJ Marco Carola.

The knife was smuggled into the club after passing “cursory” security checks on the door, the BBC reports. Around 10 men approached Fisher, Chatwin, and Vann before the altercation began.

Fisher was asked to go outside before being headbutted and punched and was then stabbed in both the leg and chest, the court heard. Security staff reportedly administered CPR after the incident at around 11:45PM.

The 23-year-old was pronounced dead around half an hour later, despite efforts to save him. Per a post-mortem examination, the knife had penetrated the main valve to his heart.

Fisher reportedly made “unavoidable” contact with the perpetrators in an incident at Popworld in Solihull just days before he was stabbed, the court heard.

Gordon and Fisher came into contact on a crowded dancefloor at Popworld, per security footage, where they exchanged several words. Gordon then proceeded to track him down via Snapchat.

Prosecutor Michael Duck KC told the court that there was “no doubt" that Gordon was looking for trouble and that he was "set on retribution".

Security footage showed Gordon "mocking and smiling" the incident at a pizza shop shortly after Fisher’s murder. Both Gordon and Carpenter blamed each other for the stabbing.

19-year-old Reegan Anderson, who also appeared at Birmingham Crown Court, said he had no idea that either suspect was carrying a knife.

Birmingham's Nighttime Economy Ambassador Lyle Bignon spoke on the safety of the city following the arrests of both men. "The nighttime economy community in Birmingham is pleased to see convictions for the murder of Cody Fisher," he said.

"Our thoughts remain with Cody’s family and friends throughout this difficult time. Even before the tragic incident which led to Cody’s murder, our clubs and late-night venues across Birmingham and the Midlands have been working hard for years to put the safety of the public first."
