​Two drug-related deaths and non-fatal stabbing reported at London venue DRUMSHEDS

Two “unexpected” drug-related deaths and a non-fatal stabbing have been reported at, or following events at, London superclub DRUMSHEDS, as reported by London Centric.

All three incidents were reported to have taken place in the past three months between October 12 and December 7, a spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed to Mixmag.

The first incident was reported to have taken place on Saturday, October 12 when a 27-year-old man was hospitalised after attending an event at the Broadwick Live-operated venue. He later died in hospital, the Met Police confirmed.

A 29-year-old woman was also reported to have passed away in hospital after attending an event at DRUMSHEDS on Saturday, December 7. Both incidents are thought to be drug-related.

London Centric also received confirmation that a non-fatal stabbing took place inside the venue on Saturday, November 16. A man was reportedly taken to hospital after the attack, although no arrests were made.

A licensing hearing took place on December 12 following the reported incidents, at the request of the Met Police. According to London Centric, the licensing committee decided that Broadwick Live should keep its licence with additional requirements, adding that council officers and police will “continue to monitor the premises to ensure these conditions are in place.”

DRUMSHEDS is subject to another licensing hearing on Tuesday, January 7, where its future will be debated by Enfield’s licensing committee.

“Public safety is our priority and following a request from the Metropolitan Police, Enfield Council held an extraordinary licensing hearing for Drumsheds, operated by Broadwick Live,” a police spokesperson told Mixmag.

“This follows three serious incidents at the venue in recent weeks, with our officers investigating two unexpected deaths and a non-fatal stabbing. The council decided the venue could retain its licence, subject to additional conditions. We have had contingencies in place for the most recent event, including an enhanced police presence.”

Earlier this month, DRUMSHEDS received criticism over claims of “unsafe” queues, overcrowding, and “aggressive” security at an event that took place on December 13.

A website demanding that DRUMSHEDS is “held accountable” for such issues emerged, hosting screenshots of complaints from attendees, photos of crowds, and a link to a petition calling on the venue to issue refunds to those affected.

Mixmag has reached out to DRUMSHEDS and the Met Police for comment.
