Truncate in the Lab LA
Hard, groovy, dark techno from the celebrated techno don
The Lab LA is BULLDOG and Mixmag's weekly live stream and post-work unwind, where we showcase the finest DJs direct from our LA office. This Friday, October 11, we welcome techno heavyweight Truncate for his Lab debut.
When it comes to hard, groovy, dark techno, Truncate should be one of the first names that you take the plunge with. Through producing music and DJing in the early 90's out of Southern California, David Flores adopted the Audio Injection alias, a moniker he used for well over a decade, releasing via Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track and Droid Recordings.
In 2011, he adopted the Truncate name, a vehicle for "the deeper, raw side of techno" and since then a slew of critically acclaimed releases have followed. Blueprint, 50 Weapons, Figuer and Mote Evolver, some of the most heralded techno imprints in the world, have all housed EPs from Flores.
In terms of his remixes he's been called up by the likes of Miss Kittin, Jimmy Edgar and Ellen Allien and most recently has turned in dancefloor-stunning edits of Spencer Parker and Loco Dice. As a regular on the techno circuit, you can expect his debut Lab performance to be one for the hardcore. Approach with caution, this one's going to be heavy duty.
Opening up will be Alex Pastor, the resident at LA's MARBLE parties and host of Little Creatures Radio based in Bristol. See you there.
The Lab is powered by Void Acoustics
