Tory Lanez found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez has been found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

The 30-year-old was convicted by a jury in Los Angeles of felony negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm.

As the verdict was read out, Lanez - real name Daystar Peterson - reportedly showed no reaction, according to the BBC. He was remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced on January 27, and could face more than 20 years in prison.

Whilst Megan, real name Megan Pete, was not in court for the verdict, her attorney Alex Spiro told reporters after the case concluded that "the jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg".

After the guilty charge was read out, a "crazy and downright scary scene" occurred in the courtroom, as Peterson's father and stepmother "screamed about wicks injustice". After several minutes, it was reported that the deputies were able to "manage the scene".

It is not immediately known whether Peterson plans to appeal, after his denial of the charges and unsuccessful arguments from his lawyer that the investigation had been "botched".

Earlier this month, Pete testified that she was shot in the feet after a pool party at Kylie Jenner's house. The 27-year-old described how the shooting has left her with chronic pain in her feet and that reliving the experience in the public eye was “torture”, according to Los Angeles Times reporting.

She testified that Peterson became angry after an argument and she had demanded to be let out of the car they were in with Pete's longtime - now estranged - friend Kelsey Harris and Peterson's bodyguard, before Peterson fired five rounds at her.

Pete testified that it was when she exited the car, Peterson opened fire, and shouted: "Dance, bitch!"

Several bullet fragments were removed from Pete's feet after the shooting, with some remaining.
