Sources close to Tomorrowland have reportedly confirmed that the festival will go ahead tomorrow, after a fire destroyed the festival's main stage yesterday (July 16).

Representatives from the fire brigade, police and other local authorities attended the site today to assess damage and determine if the festival can safely open – with Tomorrowland expected to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors from 11:AM tomorrow.

Jeroen Baer, who is the Mayor of the town of Boom - close to the festival site - is set to make an announcement at 6:PM (CEST) on whether Tomorrowland will be able to go ahead.

However, Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws reports that sources close to the festival have confirmed that it will go ahead — with only the "form still needing to be determined".

Tomorrowland announced this morning (July 17) that damage from the fire had been limited to only the main stage – with the rest of the site unaffected; from 10:AM it welcomed attendees onto its DreamVille campsite.

In an email to artists seen by Resident Advisor, organisers said they are "working hard to build a new main stage" ahead of tomorrow, when the Belgian festival is scheduled to open its gates from 11:AM.

"Regarding the festival, based on our current assessment of the situation, and given the current information we received from the authorities and fire department, we plan (and will do whatever is in our power) to open the festival doors tomorrow," the festival says.

The fire reportedly started at around 2:PM local time yesterday, with the cause of the blaze still to be determined; local residents in Boom were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.

Yesterday evening, the festival confirmed no one had been injured in the blaze. 1,000 festival workers are said to have been on site at the time of the fire breaking out.
