Tim Westwood interviewed under police caution for a third time after being accused of multiple sexual assaults

Tim Westwood has been interviewed under police caution for a third time following multiple sexual misconduct claims made against him.

The 65-year-old former BBC Radio 1 DJ and presenter has previously “strongly” denied accusations of these sexual assaults against women.

The Metropolitan Police posted a statement according to Sky News: "A 65-year-old man was interviewed under caution on March 15 2023, April 4 2023 and July 11 2023. There has been no arrest."

The Met did not name Tim Westwood as the man in the statement and no arrest has been made.

Officers are investigating five accusations of offences alleged to have taken place in London between 1982 and 2016.

In April 2022, a number of women accused Westwood of predatory and unwanted sexual behaviour and touching, as well as of him abusing his position in the music industry.

The BBC and The Guardian published a joint investigation last year, also reporting on the stories of 10 additional women who have come forward since the initial allegations.

They also accused him of abusing his position in the music industry. Some of the women told BBC News they encountered Mr Westwood when they were under 18. One said that she was only14 when Mr Westwood first had sex with her.

Their stories and those of other women were told in a BBC News documentary titled Hip Hop’s Open Secret: Tim Westwood.

An external report from KC Gemma White is exploring what the BBC did and did not know about the DJ’s almost 20-year-long employment with them which is due to be published this year.

The BBC admitted to receiving complaints about Westwood last year after the organisation's Director General had previously indicated that it had not received any.

When the initial allegations were announced, representatives of the DJ provided the following statement published by The Sun: “Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”
