2000 people are going on a "freedom to party" march in London tomorrow

Organisers are fighting against the UK government's continued crackdown on free parties

There's a "freedom to party" march going down in East London tomorrow (Saturday), protesting against the UK government's crackdown on raves (the proper, field-based type).

An organisation called Acid City has set up an event on Facebook, writing that it's time to "fight for what we believe in, let the Tory government understand our movement and culture and reasoning behind why we LOVE the free party community."

2,500 are currently attending on Facebook, with the same amount said to be interested, and the organisers are calling on everyone going to take "portable speakers, mini rigs, 12v rigs etc anything that plays music."

Also saying it's about "raving not misbehaving", it kicks off at Shoreditch Overground at 2.30pm and is billed as a "gathering of individuals who want to voice their opinion and stand in solidarity as one".

This follows the trouble surrounding a few raves last year, including this one in Lincolnshire and the Halloween bash in London. Even though the police didn't take too kindly to those, they did let a 1000-capacity illegal party go on in Northamptonshire and turned a blind eye to one in central London.

It might not attract the 10,000 ravers that 1990s Trafalgar Square protest did, but we're fully down for this one.
