The Prodigy forced to cancel this weekend's Boomtown headline slot
Band member Maxim was asked by doctors not to appear at the Winchester festival, due to recovering from back injury
The Prodigy will no longer be headlining Boomtown festival this weekend, after band member Maxim was asked not to perform on "doctor's orders."
Sharing an announcement, The Prodigy apologised for the cancellation explaining that their MC is recovering from a temporary back injury. The legendary electronic outfit have also pulled out of a headline slot at Dreambeach in Almeria, Spain.
The band were due to perform on the Grand Central stage at Boomtown on Sunday, marking their first gig in Winchester since 1992 at Vision Rave festival, in Popham Airfield.

On Twitter, the band said: "The Prodigy have unfortunately been forced to cancel their upcoming headline festival performances at Dreambeach (ES) and Boomtown (UK) under doctor’s orders, as Maxim recovers from a temporary back injury.
"This isn't a decision the band take lightly and they apologise to all fans who are travelling to these shows. We will update everyone on his progress and future shows as soon as possible."
Boomtown organisers have shared: "We are now working hard to bring this iconic band to Grand Central next year at Boomtown 2024. Until then we send Maxim our love and wish him a smooth recovery.
"This news brings a shift to our Sunday programming, rest assured, we're working on this. Please check the woov app for updates. Thank you for your understanding."

When announcing The Prodigy as the festival's headliner Boomtown Co-founder Luke Mitchell said: “The Prodigy’s energy, immense production value, and influence in the rave scene make them the perfect match for Boomtown, and I’m over the moon that we’ve been able to finally get this nailed down and can now share the exciting news. The Prodigy are the most Boomtown band on the planet."
The Prodigy are set to play headline sets at a number of other festivals this Summer, both in the UK and further afield — including EXIT Festival and WE ARE FSTVL, a UK tour will follow this November, kicking off in Glasgow and finishing in London's Alexandra Palace.
The 66,000-capacity festival will see the likes of Cypress Hill, Sister Sledge and Beenie Man playing this weekend.
