Stormzy's debut album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ is UK number one
A crowning moment for the MC
Stormzy’s album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ has officially got the number one spot in the UK charts after a close battle with Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s effort ‘Human’.
Released on February 24, the rapper’s debut is the fastest-selling grime album ever, beating Skepta’s ‘Konnichiwa’, Kano’s ‘Made In The Manor’ and Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Boy In Da Corner’.
It’s also racked up the most first-week streams for a number one album in chart history, topping stars like Drake and Justin Bieber.
Stormzy said: “It hasn’t sunk in yet. Honestly, I wish I
could take every person who bought and streamed the album out with me, have
dinner with them, dedicate a whole night to them. I don’t take your support for
granted. I can’t thank you enough.
Thundercat’s ‘Drunk’ album also landed in the Top 40 at 37, while Calvin Harris' collaboration with Migos and Frank Ocean 'Slide' sits at 10 in the singles chart.
