A new virtual instrument inspired by Boards Of Canada, Lone, Tycho and Com Truise is now available to buy online.

The Hexagon Sky VST plugin comes via SampleScience, a software company that specialises in boutique plugins and features 101 presets of hazy soundscapes and retro synth sounds.

The sample-based plugins includes a wide variety of acoustic instruments, bells guitars, electric pianos and analog synthesizer tones. It even features acoustic instruments sampled from public domain documentaries, a method that gave Boards Of Canada their name.

The synth features four oscillators: one main, one sub and two field recording oscillators that can modulate atmospheres such as kids playing in a schoolyard. These sounds can all be blended together and then run through a set of vinyl, cassette, tape and broken noise knobs to add a lo-fi touch.

Hexagon Sky is currently available for $29.99 for both Mac and Windows.
